Did anyone call the Fun Police?

WESTFORD — Neighbors of Nashoba Valley Ski Area called on selectmen last night to put an end to rowdy parties at Nashoba’s large outdoor bar.

A half-dozen residents who live near the Sunset Tiki Bar complained to the board about “intolerable” noise until 1 a.m. on some nights, drunken patrons and speeding vehicles leaving the bar.

The bar, situated on a lake at the ski area, is open Monday through Saturday, from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. through the end of August. It opened as a daily business this summer after hosting many corporate events a few evenings a week throughout the 2009 season.

Westford police Safety Officer Mike Croteau told selectmen police have responded to the bar on three occasions recently.

On June 20, at about 1:30 a.m., police were called to a fight at the bar. When officers arrived, security personnel had already dispersed the fight, but three individuals involved were drunk to the point they were unable to drive, Croteau said. Officers also encountered two people who were clearly intoxicated.

Five days later, on June 25, a resident called police to complain about noise coming from the bar.

On July 3, police conducting a random check encountered two intoxicated patrons. One was giving a sobriety check and failed, Croteau said.

You know, there’s a reason town’s like Westford and Littleton are littered with Wine & Cheese shops, and that’s because these people can’t handle anything that’s fun.  I mean, it’s really hard to imagine anyone showing up at an outdoor booze patio and enjoying more booze than the legal limit suggests.  That would be mucho irresponsible.  Wait…did I just read that correctly?  There was an incident where two gentlemen engaged in fisticuffs and possibly were slightly overserved?  Oh the humanity!  Take it away!  Take it ALL away!  I’ve been in roughly one billion bars (Give or take a couple) in my lifetime and I have never heard of such uncouth behavior.  Let’s get one thing straight folks, this isn’t the Double Duece, it’s the Tiki Bar at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Check the zip code hoss.
